PURSUING MORE OF JESUS
The Emmaus Women's Leadership Team has chosen "Pursuing More of Jesus" as the 2010 theme for our Women's Ministry. As we strive to provide opportunities for the women of our church it is our prayer that our primary aim is to present Jesus to each precious lady in such a way that they will leave feeling that they have been in His presence.
After the ladies chose this theme I began praying about meaningful activities that could be presented to encourage our ladies in their pursuit of Jesus. One Sunday morning we sang a song in the worship service that spoke to my heart in such a powerful way. I would like to share the words of that song with you. It explains so well what we were feeling when we chose this theme. To pursue Jesus means to “know him” in an intimate and personal relationship by putting Him above everything and everyone else. As women that is not always an easy thing to accomplish. We have so many demands on our time. It comes from every direction – family, friends, church, co-workers and the list goes on and on. How do we successfully take care of the people and responsibilities in our lives and make time for Him as well? The secret is found in our obedience to His Word and putting the things of God as our top priority. If you have placed Jesus in the right perspective in your life, He will make sure that you have time for everything else that He wants you to do.
Ephesians 3:16-19, “I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love may have power together with all the saints to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
