This List explains what is expected of people once they have auditioned and become a member of one of our vocal teams.

  1. Weekly practice sessions – All team members are required to attend the following practice session. Each rehearsal is equally important. Unless there is proper notification of your acceptable absence, you will be expected to attend the following:
Worship Choir Rehearsal – Sunday 6:00 – 7:30PM  Choir Room

If you are scheduled to sing on a Sunday morning, you are required to attend the following rehearsal prior to your scheduled time:

     Worship Service Prep. Reh. – Wed. 7:30 – 9:00PM  Choir Room/Worship Center

  1. Weekly worship services - Team members who are scheduled to lead on Sunday mornings, should be ready at 8:30 A.M. for warm-up time on stage. If your team is scheduled & you have to miss because of sickness or an emergency, please inform the director and/or coordinator of your absence with as much advanced warning as possible. It is not acceptable to just let the leaders ‘find out’ at 8:30 Sunday morning!

  1. Other functions – You will occasionally be expected to lead worship for seminars and other special retreats and meetings. Plenty of advanced notice will be given.

  1. Commitment to service – This is a volunteer ministry, however, it is also a team ministry. And as such, to be considerate of other team members, it requires faithfulness to the time commitment of rehearsals and services. You will be expected to treat all rehearsals & services as equally important. This includes Worship Choir rehearsal – you are expected to be a faithful member of the the Worship Choir.  The praise team is an extension of the choir. If attendance becomes an issue then you may be asked to resign your position and an alternate will be given your spot on the team.

  1. Commitment to musical expertise – The ability to read music notes and learn various vocal parts with minimal work is what we expect from you. It is expected that you possess a certain vocal quality and style that is consistent with other team members. In other words, your pitch and tone need to blend with everyone else you are singing with. We also have to be skilled enough to sing in various styles of music and to be flexible enough to follow any changes that might occur in the service. We all need to work at becoming the very best we can be. This means, for some, a great deal of individual practice or even extra lessons may be necessary in addition to our regular practices. Keep in mind that the team will only be as musically proficient as the individuals that make it up. NOTE: Solos will only be given to those who are faithful in attendance and who are dedicated to quality in performance and worshipful expression.

  1. Commitment to “flowing” with the team – More than individual expertise, our musical goal needs to be the ability to “flow” as a team. We need to look at our team not just as a collection of separate musicians but as a single unit with a single purpose. Our heart attitude should not be to shine forth our own skill but to use that skill to enhance the team as a whole. Thus, enhancing our congregational response time as a whole. Remember, God is the focus of our worship. There is no room for “showing off” for our own selfish gratification in this ministry. Being a team player is expected.

  1. Commitment to growing spiritually - This is as important on an individual basis as it is with the team. As a leader and minister in our congregation, you will be expected to be committed to maturing in your relationship to Jesus. As a team we will hold one another accountable to spending quality time reading God’s Word, memorizing scripture and praying. At times, it may be a required to reveal your spiritual growth plan/activities to your team members.
